The statistics below are for the entire greater New Orleans area.
Greater New Orleans includes the City of New Orleans and surrounding areas, which encompasses the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain and both sides of the Mississippi River. On the South Shore of Lake Pontchartrain, you will find the City of New Orleans, Metairie and Kenner, which are suburbs of the city and LaPlace. Algiers, Gretna, Harvey, Marrero, Westwego and Boutte are on the the south shore of Lake Pontchartrain, but are located on the west bank of the Mississippi River.
North of Lake Pontchartrain are the cities or towns of Mandeville, Madisonville, Lacombe, Covington, Hammond, Ponchatoula, and Slidell.

The light green bars represent the homes for sale. At the bottom of each light green bar is a dark green bar representing the sales for that month, and the red line shows how many houses went under contract for that month.

This graph shows average prices for which homes have sold and also the average asking prices. This graph should help you determine the affordability of homes in greater New Orleans. It can help you track appreciation and depreciation of properties in the area and can also show you how realistic the asking prices are, based on the difference between the average sold price and average active price. (Note: Fluctuations in this graph are frequently a result of seasonal influences.)
