New Orleans CBD & Warehouse/Arts District Community Information

The Central Business District and the adjacent Warehouse/Arts District provide New Orleans with urban sensibility combined with a uniquely local flair. Properties in these areas have become popular among homebuyers, and local real estate has been booming.

Every homebuyer is sure to find something in his or her price range and preferred style in the Warehouse/CBD area. From renovated homes, condominiums and historic, renovated townhomes to single-family homes, homebuyers will enjoy the variety of options and urban flair of the neighborhood. The Warehouse/Arts District (named for the warehouses repurposed to create a thriving neighborhood of residential and commercial buildings over the past 50 years) offers the opportunity to find condominium and single-home properties alongside and above some of the city's most impressive art galleries and restaurants. The CBD is located in the central area of the Orleans Parish, convenient to the rest of the city. Real estate here often offers amazing views of the New Orleans skyline.

The area features an array of museums, art galleries, clubs, music venues, shops, hotels, a casino, and plenty more. Foodies will be impressed by the dining options, which include restaurants fronted by such world-renowned chefs as Emeril Lagasse and Donald Link. Dozens of museums are within walking distance (the Contemporary Arts Center, National World War II Museum, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, the Louisiana Children's Museum and many others). Major shopping destinations can also be found along Canal and Poydras Streets, as well as along the Riverwalk area at the Mississippi River.

CBD and Warehouse/Arts District Location & Logistics

The Downtown Central Business District runs from Canal Street to Poydras Street and from South Claiborne Avenue to Tchoupitoulas Street. The adjacent Warehouse/Arts District makes a geographic square bounded by Poydras Street and Calliope Street, Loyola Avenue and the Mississippi River.

Public transportation is abundant in this urban neighborhood, with both the historic St. Charles Avenue and Canal Street streetcar companies traversing the area, and bus lines operating 24 hours per day. Taxis are very prevalent in the neighborhood and can either be called in advance or hailed street-side.

Residents who prefer to own their own vehicle will usually find that their property comes with designated on-site, off-street parking, with plenty of additional parking lots and garages nearby.
