Chalmette Location & Logistics

Chalmette—about 8 square miles—is generally mapped from the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MRGO) on the north, The Mississippi River on the south, Norton Avenue and Cougar Drive on the west, and Refinery Road on the east.

Just a few minutes southeast of downtown New Orleans, this community is often considered a suburb of the Crescent City. It is easily accessible via two-lane roads (St. Bernard highway and St. Claude Avenue) along the Mississippi River and four-lane Claiborne Avenue (Highway 90), and is connected to I-10 to the east via Paris Road and I-310.

New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport is less than 30 minutes away, and a mass transit system, plus major bus and rail lines also traverse Chalmette.
